We were honoured to be approached by Mr Sam Delaney, a household name known for over twenty years in British media, his accolades include journalist, author, broadcaster and podcaster. With the demands of his growing business activities, working within his home was becoming restrictive and he needed to create a more efficient work, life balance. Mr Delaney needed an affordable yet practical solution that could facilitate his growth and so was looking for a bespoke / versatile space to record his podcasts from and an area where he could focus on his projects.
After researching numerous options over a prolonged period of time, Mr Delaney felt that to extend his home would prove to be a considerable amount of work, the planning regulations within his borough were difficult to navigate and ultimately the quotes he was receiving were out of budget. Mr Delaney had been let down by another garden room contractor going into liquidation and we were more than pleased to jump straight in and assist with getting him the space he urgently needed.
Vita Modular got straight to work by looking at the space available, taking into consideration Mr Delaney’s budget and environmental factors, to design his perfect space. Being in close proximity to London City and Heathrow Airports, Mr Delaney needed to ensure that external noise wouldn’t affect the sound quality of his podcasts and so we included our acoustic package to his build which provided triple glazing throughout and additional layers of sound-proof plasterboard & insulation to the garden room.
Also given the long hours that Mr Delaney would be spending in the garden room we could guarantee the thermal performance of our structures, all compliant with current building regulations, would ensure he would benefit from all year round comfortable use.
Scope of Works
Our 4600mm corner UPVC glazed system was used in RAL 7016 to contrast the cladding and provided a single fully glazed door with tilt and turn window / door combination which let an unbelievable amount of natural light into the space. With eight garden room finishes to choose from, Mr Delaney’s modernist style saw him opt for the ‘Shades in Stone Garden Room’. A natural stone finish represents perfectly the soft, yet strong appearance of natural stone, with a fine textured finish that is a delight even to the touch and yet as durable and robust as the stone it emulates.
We are delighted with our garden room. Vita Modular were exceptional to work with throughout - from initial discussions, a meticulous design stage and the actual build. They have a rare attention to detail - this meant that our room (which we use as an office and recording studio) was finished to our own specific needs. They over delivered in every aspect and communicated with us carefully throughout the process. The team who built the room were polite, diligent and a pleasure to have around the place. The garden room has been really life changing in both personal and professional terms. The whole family love it and we are so happy that we chose to work with Vita Modular.
