Andrew and Ailee sought a modern, functional, and comfortable extension to their home, specifically a contemporary 1 bedroom annexe for their elderly parent. The vision was to create an inviting, energy-efficient environment that their parent could use year-round, while also enhancing their property's aesthetic. The result is a stylish, high-specification garden room that seamlessly extends their home into the garden, providing a versatile and insulated additional living space built with premium materials and meticulous attention to detail.
Andrew and Ailee envisioned a contemporary 1 bedroom annexe that offered both seamless style and practical functionality. Their goal was a comfortable, year-round extension of their living space that incorporated premium materials and an energy-efficient design. They wanted a modern structure that would not only be an asset to their property's aesthetic but also a truly inviting environment.
To bring this vision to life, the project focused on a sophisticated exterior and robust construction. A striking visual contrast was created using smooth Anthracite Acrylic Brick Slip on the front and left elevations against sleek Midnight Black Hardieplank VL cladding elsewhere. This was complemented by bespoke Black RAL 7021 pressed steel trims for a sharp, clean finish. The structure was built on a durable steel frame with expertly crafted structural insulated panels for the walls, roof, and floor, ensuring longevity and high performance.
The completed 24 sq/m one bedroom annexe stands as a testament to quality design and meticulous execution. High-performance insulation and black uPVC double-glazing create a thermally efficient and comfortable interior, while a projecting roof canopy with integrated downlighting enhances the ambiance for evening use. The project was professionally managed from the sustainable ground screw foundations to the Part P certified electrical installation, delivering a seamless and compliant process for the clients.
