The homeowners wanted to replace their small, outdated kitchen with a large open-plan kitchen and dining area that would become the main hub of the home. Their key objectives included:
• Creating a bright kitchen diner extension suitable for entertaining
• Opening the rear of the property with a wide structural opening
• Installing a modern kitchen with tiled flooring
• Achieving a clean contemporary external finish
• Ensuring the extension blended naturally with the existing property
A wrap around extension design was selected to maximise internal floor area while improving the connection between the house and garden.
The project involved constructing a 7m x 4m wrap around extension that significantly increased the usable living space on the ground floor of the property.
A key part of the project was forming a new 7‑metre wide structural opening at the rear of the house. This required the installation of structural steel beams, temporary support during construction and coordination with structural engineers. The new opening dramatically improved natural light and created a seamless transition between the original house and the new extension
The extension was constructed using durable materials designed to complement the existing home. External construction works included:
• Full groundworks and foundations
• Structural wall construction
• Flat roof installation
• High-performance insulation
• Silicone render external finish
Silicone render was selected for its modern appearance, durability and low maintenance.
Once the structure was completed, Vita Modular delivered a full internal fit-out to create a ready-to-use kitchen diner space. Internal works included:
• Electrical installation throughout the extension
• Modern LED lighting
• Tiled flooring installation
• Kitchen supply and installation
• New internal doors
• Full plastering and decoration
